A village house in the fishing area of Santa Luzia

“Heart of Santa Luzia” is an authentic village house that belonged to the family of an octopus fisherman, originally called Casa Santos. We have just (July 2021) renovated this house for your pleasure and that of your family and friends.

The house is part of a traditional vintage district built in the eighties to shelter fishing families, near the Municipality (Junta de Freguesia) and the post office (CTT). This partly pedestrian area is a haven of tranquility and solidarity, yet very close to the seaside tourist activity.

You can reach the main sea avenue (which runs along the lagoon) in less than 3 minutes, especially to embark towards the beach of Terra Estreita. Or go on foot or by bike to Praia do Barril (Pedras d’El Rei).

Housing

Large house of more than 90 m², “Heart of Santa Luzia” offers you a living-dining room in L, a rather well equipped kitchen, a bright quintal (kind of secondary kitchen oriented to the outside) especially for your breakfasts, a washing machine corner, an open patio at the other entrance, a double bedroom with a double bed and storage space, a bedroom with two single beds, A single-storey bathroom with shower space and an upstairs room equipped with a bed next to a small writing space.

“Heart of Santa Luzia” is a self-catering guesthouse where you can freely organize your holidays and those of your friends/family, which can accommodate five people at ease.

We make available to you a large number of equipment mainly domestic and assimilated.

Each room has its own sheets, pillowcases & towels, and benefits from its own decoration as well as a name that is its own:

“Grand Coeur” Room (ground floor)

Facing «west» towards the pedestrian area and equipped with a large double bed, a chest of drawers, two night tables and a large closet with luggage room.

“Double Coeur” (ground floor)

Facing east towards the main entrance, with two single beds, a wardrobe and a large wooden chest.

“Petit Coeur” room (upstairs)

Facing west, overlooking the wooded square and the water tower, equipped with a special size bed (about 180 x 140) a wardrobe and a coat rack.

A writing space is located at the top of the stairwell.

Guest Access

By renting the entire guesthouse, you have access to everything it offers in terms of spaces and equipment, including the possibility of using outside the professional cast iron BBQ that we put at your disposal.

On Street No. 6, you can have a table and chairs on the exterior façade in the evening, if you do not use the infrastructure facilities arranged on site by the municipality of Santa Luzia (rounded wall in the shape of a bench).

On the opposite side, a small pedestrian square, an outdoor patio gives you a partially covered space with a bench, a seat and a coffee table.

You will not have any difficulty getting in touch with us during your stay, we live nearby.

The neighborhood

You have the advantage of staying quietly in the heart of Santa Luzia, without having to fear the hustle and bustle of coastal entertainment nearby.

The heart of Santa Luzia has two entrances, one overlooking the Rua José Luis Mateus (No. 6), the other on an island interior in the shape of a small pedestrian square that you can access with your vehicle as a resident. So no parking problems, and good security for tour vehicle and belongings.

At the same time you are very close (a few hundred meters) to the lagoon front, its multiple bars, snacks and restaurants of all categories (list on request).

It is also for you the quick starting point to the famous beaches (Praia do Barril and its small tourist train, Ilha or Terra Estreita and its regular service of public boats) that you can reach in peace on foot if you wish. The neighborhood made of small dwelling houses is rather quiet.

You are also in immediate contact on the axis that leads you on foot, by bike or by car to the charming neighboring town of Tavira (less than 4 kms) which offers you all the complementary possibilities as well as to the Ilha de Tavira.

Transports

You can fly to Faro which is less than 40km away or to Seville airport which is 180 km away.

From Faro you can take either the train (CP) or the bus (Eva or Renex) to Tavira.

From Seville, you can rent a car or take the mainline buses to Tavira (minimum three services per
day).

For trips by car to our home, you will have the choice between the EN125 national road or the A22 toll motorway (exit Olhao or Tavira if you come from the West – Lisbon Faro or exit Tavira for those who join us from Spain). There are also many taxis in Tavira.
